Ney lessons

First find the sound

Şükrü began by listening, imitating and experimenting before formal technique entered the picture. His teaching keeps that direct relationship with sound alive: theory supports the ear, but never replaces it.

  • Producing the first tone without forcing the breath
  • Posture, fingering, intonation and tone colour
  • Turkish and Ottoman repertoire
  • Listening, phrasing and ornamentation
  • A realistic practice method for your level and schedule
